As promised, progress report on split rims. 
The prototype rim has worked okay. This is a new rolled flat base rim, with the
ridges machined and  Mig-welded on. The proposed costing is around
U.S.$500, which will be plus freight.   At this stage we need
indications of interest please, to see if it is worth while
proceeding.

If the project goes ahead we will need pre-payment,
and a signed waiver that risks are the buyer's responsibility.  As
explained, the cost to extrude original rims would be hundreds of thousands of
dollars, so this is a "Bush-mechanics" compromise.   The alternatives
are to change to a different wheel, or carry on welding your old
rims.
