Engine Re-Building
Well my engine rebuilding is not going well. Valve guides are worn,
block has two minor cracks and one major crack from the exhaust to the
cylinder wall. Of course there's lots of machining to do. The bores
are oversized, the pistons are undersized, wrist pins are sloppy, ring
grooves are over-sized etc etc etc.
Sleeving and repairs are about $3,000 CDN, ($2,500 US Funds.)
So, to try and minimize my costs I'm trying to find a 'standard'
piston that I can use. I posted on this topic a few months ago and no-
one had any sugestions (both egge and LandRover are very expensive).
I'm thinking about converting to a Ford 4.6L modular angine piston
that is 3.6" bore and 1.22 compression height.
Does anyone have dimensions/specs for the Hudson pistons? ie
compression heights and wrist pin sizes etc?
