Hud 1927 motor

Hello all. A friend has a 27 Hudson motor with a block that is cracked from valve face across to bore. We know of another similar car interstate that has the same problem. Is this a common problem with 27 motors. Has anyone had any success repairing this problem?

 

Guru Geof sent a recent email re 27 to 29 motor differences and what was interchangable. Im sorry Geof, I didnt keep a copy. At the time I thought it was very interesting, but as I didnt have such a car I didnt keep a copy. Look forward to some helpful comments. Thanks
