2006 Western Regional Meet
The theme for the 2006 Western Regional is going to be The Roarin' Twenties featuring Hudsons of the '20s. As far as I know this is the only meet with a theme highlighting these wonderful cars and it presents us with an opportunity to tell the story of the cars, the company & the times. Most of the folks that knew the times first hand have passed, so it is up to us to tell their tale.
I have been asked to edit the program for this wonderful meet and thought this would be a grand opportunity to produce more than just a schedule of events with some filler material. The Hudson company and the Hudson & Essex cars it produced were at their zenith in the 1920s and I'm looking for help telling the story.
Can you write a story on any of these topics?
Hudson Super Six cars
Essex 4 & 6 cars
Speed & Endurance contests
Living with these cars - advice for those thinking of restoring & driving
Hudson Motor Car Co. as a business
Mechanical aspects emphasizing the wet clutch and its advantages
Automotive trends in the 1920s, open to closed cars, more cylinders, balloon tires, 4 wheel brakes, brighter colors, etc.
Motoring in the twenties - EG, where did you buy gas in 1922?
Restoring and driving these cars in the present
The articles should be short, perhaps 2000 words and you may supply high Q pics or I can choose some to match. I can also help with editing. The pieces should be submitted by the middle of April. Please let me know in advance what you would like to work on.
