Re: [HSS] 1929 Hudson Speed ?
Ron, you need to check the rear end ratio. The standard ratio is 4.45:1,
which was fitted to long wheelbase models and standard sedans. The 4.09
ratio is fitted to coupes, roadsters and phaetons, and will swap directly
with the others. I have been running the high ratio one in my '29 Hudson 7
pass. sd. since 1971, and have had no problems with the performance, and
usually cruise around 50 - 55 m.p.h. with no problems, without the engine
sounding like it's revving high. Unfortunately my high geared diff has now
come to a halt with 2 broken teeth, so I am looking for another one. If I
have to I will fit the standard ratio, but am reluctant to do so as driving
with the higher ratio is that much more easy. Perhaps we should be
keeping this quiet, as everyone will be looking for a high ratio diff now,
and I'll miss out!!! Best wishes,
Geoff.
