27 Hudson (Early F Head) Engine Rebuild

My Hudson has not been running in 10 years. Prior to that, I had the

car started for a shor duration and it seem to run okay. (But who

remembers after 10 years!)

My son and I are working on the project together. He's attending a

local junior college taking auto mechanics courses. He is wanting to

take the engine apart to clean our any sludge etc. that may have built

up. Quite frankly, I think he just wants us to take the car apart

because that's what young studs want to do.

Questions:

1. Should we take it apart, inspect and clean the engine prior to our

putting it back into the car, or just put it in the car and take our

chances.

2. If we take it apart, he wants to use this squeeze out of a tube

gasket maker to replace worn gaskets. Should we or just make our own

gaskets?

3. Is there someplace I can look to determine what the torque

requirements are on the drivetrain parts....or do you just tighten

until you think its tight enough?

Thank you,
