I would just drop the sump, check the troughs for acid holes after sitting
for so many years, perhaps have a look at the bearings by removing each cap,
being careful not to drop or mix up the shims. Clean things up and start it
up and see how you go. I certainly wouldn't recommend stripping the engine
until you have had it running and see how it goes. It's easy enough to cut
new gasekt. Be careful with squeeze-on products, they cans shquash out and
form globules of rubbery gunk that can block up oil passages. Good luck,
