1927 Hudson Super Six (Early F-Head)

Good day. I hope everyone has a nice weekend. Okay, here are some

more novice questions.

1. I currently have my engine bolted to a Harbor Freight engine

stand. You know the kind, the engine is bolted to the bell housing

case and the front end hangs free. Well, in my case, the engine is

bolted to the bell housing (if that is what it is called) and is

supported on the front engine mounts by a pile of bricks on each

side. It's been that way for years now. Okay, laugh, I know. But

this was the only way I thought I could support the fron end. I

thought it would be too much weight on the rear if I did not support

the front also.

Question: Does someone have a photo of an engine stand that they

either have bought or constructed that supports the entire engine? (

I am taking a mig welding class and this would be a good project if

someone had a good design.

2. Follow-up from an earlier question. On the top end of the engine

(looking straight down at the pistons) there are two holes that I will

be fitting with 1 5/16" discs cemented in using permatex and a slight

tap with a ball pean (sp.= pean?) hammer.

Question: Why would the manufacturer cast an engine with freeze plug

holes on the top of the engine since there are freeze plugs cast on

the end of the motor? (Just curious?) Or were these vent holes from

sand casting?

Thanks,
