Re: [HSS] Generator,Cutout ?

The cut-out is simply a relay which closes the contacts once the generator

starts charging, and opens them again when it stops charging. Obvoiusly

something has been changed when you put the new cables in. The circuit is

quite simple - the wire from the cut-out goes up to the ammeter. I

suggest you disconnect the generator drive coupling, remove the cut-out lid,

and manually close the points. The generator should spin and show about 4

amps discharge. If not ,then you have to double-check that field fuse. If

okay, then take the cut-out right off, and connect the wire from the

ammeter directly to the wire that comes out of the generator. If the

generator now spins, then the cut-out is faulty. If it doesn't, your

generator is crook. Good luck,
