it is a byproduct of a mechanical fuel pump moving gasoline. A bubble

Any air in the line would simply rise to the vacuum tank would'nt it?
Check your tank and lines for an air leak and move the line as far
awaway from the carburetor as possible.
My '29 used to vapor lock on hot days with an electric pump mounted back by the fuel tank. The stuff that passes for gasoline these days is more volatile that fuel sold was back in the day and it seems to boil inside the line. The '29 runs hot which doesn't help I'm sure. There is a little spring loaded valve on top of the Marvel float bowl that hissed pressure out when it was depressed in these situations. Sometimes that would allow the motor to start.
Some sort of asbestos like insulating material or a section of rubber hose rather than steel tubing might be a good solution.
The car now has a vacuum tank, so we shall see if the problem persists.
