Certainly not felt washers. There should be
either copper or steel washers between the collar on the plugs and the cylinder
head, which compress down to get a good seal.

hello everyone-
well were back from california,getting ready to start the 1926 hudson,I
noticed that the spark plugs are new however there are little felt things
under them after I tightened the plugs down it squished them out are they
supossed to be there? or should I remove them and just put the plugs strate
in?
