steering gear box

I everyone I was able to get the 1926 hudson running today.what a gas

I honked that old horn about 15 times before I relized it was

working.blew out about um-teen years of mouse nest that was in the

exaust pipe.filled the shop up with smoke and dust ahhh what a good

day.

Now what im up against is the steering gear box,I have disconnected

the steering collum.I have taken the advance rods off.I took the

pitmen arm off.I disconected the horn wire. but the steering collum

must run thrugh the steering box? I did not take the gears off the

bottom of the box... is that where I went wrong?I just thought I

didn't want to get them out of adjustment. so any help here would be

very nice so I can at least turn the car with out having to use three

men and a boy to do it.Im also wondering if its like a watch in there?

is there any thing I need to know so I don't make more work for my

self than I need to.
