New Addition & Help Needed
Hello Gang,
My longtime friend, neighbor and business partner has just bought a
'29 Town Sedan, no. 844098. The car is about 95% complete, all
together, not running, and fresh out of the barn. It is sitting on
wood wheels and they as well as the wooden framework are very solid.
HOWEVER I have a dilemma. It was my understanding that all of the
Briggs bodied Town Sedans were Aluminum paneled. This car is
definately a town sedan, rose pattern, and has the "Body by Briggs"
emblems on the cowl, but a magnet sticks to everything on the car!!!
What about this?
The block has a significant water jacket crack which I have not
determined whether or not it is repairable. The engine internals look
good. Believe it or not there were neither holes nor brazing in the
dipper tray! The carburetor float bowl was trash as usual. Vacuum
tank is present, but incorrect. It is missing one window glass,
windshield is cracked, and the top is completely gone however the
wooden slats are present and good. Interior is rat eaten. Also, the
seats appear to be upholstered in some sort of broadcloth-- is this
correct for Town Sedans? My Standard Sedan is all Mohair.
We are in need of a few parts: At least one, and preferably three,
split rims. The Right Rear split rim is missing as are the
sidemounts. (This is a dual sidemount car). So we need at least one
to get the car on the road. I also need the metering plunger and link
that connects it up to the throttle valve for the Marvel carburetor.
Also he needs two spare tire hold down arms, and I also need one for
my car, for a total of three. Also missing the radiator cap, gas cap
(I am missing the correct gas cap also) and crank hole cover (DOH!)
The radiator cap we may not need as he might like to go to the mascot.
Any information is appreciated!
Best Regards
James Coats
