    Paul,

Thanks for all that background - I can identify
with it!  Fortunately for everyone I didn't even think of brass
instruments but I've played guitar and plectrum/standard banjo all my adult
life, mostly in 7-piece trad jazz groups but also 3- and 4-piece outfits.
I have several friends in the old car world who are also jazz musos - it all
goes together so nicely.  Lately I've started doing some old car videos and
using ragtime and jazz as part of the sound track.  Again, it all fits so
nicely.  As it happens, I'm on the Steering Committee of the Australian
Jazz Convention, the world's longest-running jazz event.  We're having the
    61st Convention later this year.

That guitar looks as though it would throw out
plenty of volume even without using the pickup.  And you are so right about
practice.  One of my grandchildren wanted to know how come I can play the
banjo so well (her judgement, not mine) and said "I know it sounds reeeally
boring, but it's practice, practice, practice".  The other bit, too
difficult for little kids to follow, is that you've then got to challenge
yourself, get out there and play with the big boys (musically and metaphorically
speaking).  It's the scariest part but far and away the most
    productive.

What has all this got to do with Hudsons?  Not
a lot, but we got to see the pic of the car and guitar and they both look
great.  And now that I think about, the '29 Landau took me to a lot of gigs
    in my younger days.

    Cheers.......... Peter R.

Playing?  Playing what?  Come on, what is this
    secret other life??

No secret about this, several years ago I decided to
try to become a musician. I have been involved with vintage music all of my
life but as a consumer - record collector & toe tapper. I took up cornet
& tenor banjo. As much as I love cornet, I have made more usable progress
with the banjo, tenor guitar & baritone uke tuned like a tenor
    banjo.

I have been off my practice regimen while working on the RagFest
ragtime music festival where I serve as chair of the committee. Over the last
several months, I have practiced very little and my pace of progress has
slowed. Time to get back to it.

I play in a banjo band and in our local
Dixieland club in the "tailgate" room, a place for good players to warm up and
for the rest of us to practice. I play quietly in the back so as to create a
minimum of fuss when I miss the changes or loose track of where I am
    at.

The pic below is of the resonator guitar, the one I play most
often. It is perched on the front of the Hudson and is the lead picture I use
    on my MySpace
    page.
