I have replaced the inlet valves, but never the guides. Surprisingly, in

spite of the rather inadequate lubrication of the upper valve chamber, there

is usually little wear in the guides. However, if there was wear, I agree

that a modern bronze guide liner should do the job fine. It's a different

story however with the exhaust guides. Use bronze liners in these and you

have to allow a good .005" clearance otherwise the valve stems will jam up,

particularly if you are using stainless valves.
