Yes, they can be rebuilt. Unfortunately I cannot recommend anybody to do

this. In most cases they just need cleaning out, the bushings renewed, and

new oil. However, if the pistons have been frozen in it can take a bit of

fiddling. You need to unscrew the end caps to get the pistons out, and you

can then ascertain the condition of the return springs and the shaft

bushings et. I had mine done around 35 years ago, and they machined out the

housing and fitted bronze bishes with large solid neoprene seals. You can

use ordinary gear oil in them.
