Hi Haw.  I found this on the net.  I read
somewhere in the last couple of weeks about someone had driven an early Hudson
and commented on how effective the air springs or shocks were.  I think it
was on this 16-29 so perhaps someone will come forward with
information.

These "Shocks", which are labeled "Gruss Air Spring" on the casing,
are
mounted on the very front (2 ea) and back (2 ea) of the
vehicle. They are
cyclidrical shaped metal casing about 3.5"
diameter and 24" high.
According to some literatures I found, it
uses pressurized air and oil
inside to absorb the shock and
vibration of the car when it is on the
road.
