For sure the spring should never be even close to the conducting
area.

Does anyone have a picture of the shaft, washers, spring, insulator,
plunger, and nut layout. I think my spring became a contact, got hot
and got shorter. Is the nut a locking type, or is there just a lock
washer on the end?
I need to know what the contact plunger looks like,
and how long? I
just researched the messages and Geoff said it is tapered?
Mine has the
threaded end of a brass fitting on the end, what ever worked,
I guess.
