1929 Hudson Town Sedan - a lot of questions and some information
Hello everyone, for those of you I met at the National Meet, it was a
pleasure getting to know you. When I came home and looked at my 29
engine, I at least knew what everything was. I have put a bunch of
different pictures on my webserver which you can reach at:
http://209.234.75.36/share/1929_Hudson/
I put the pictures of my Town Sedan in the condition it was found in
this directory:
http://209.234.75.36/share/1929_Hudson/first_look/
Then after it was detailed and loaded on the trailer for transport home:

I also tried to take some detailed pictures of some different features
that the Town Sedan has.

Some of the pictures are large, but I did that for the detail. If you
have dialup you may want to think twice about some of the pictures. If
the number is 1000000 that is 1MB.
I also have close ups of sections of the engine including after I took
the oil pan off.

I did discover that the Town Sedan had the Rose pattern.
Note for Sheldon Rody: I would be curious if it is the same gauge
cluster as yours or if it has less. I think you said yours was even
different than the bigger Biddle and Smart build bodies.
I do have a couple of questions that I would appreciate some help with:
1. What is the best way to clean aluminum- right now the valve cover
and the bottom part of the block.
2. Where is the best place to get replacement spark plug wires for the
F-head.
3. I need some help on how to pull the water pump. I think it needs a
thorough inspection as both seals are out, the motor was removed (I
have it) and the bolts are only partially screwed in to the block.
4. I am having some difficulting figuring out how to get the carb
off. There is a connection between the carb and the rod connection on
the intake stack. The piece is perminently attached to the rod
connection on the intake stack, but I cant figure how to get it off the
carb

5. How do I get all that gunk out of the value space? Is there a spray
that would break all that up while I have the oil pan off?
6. Where is the best place to buy teflon water pump packing. Some
folks said Model A parts distributer. Is there a national parts chain
that carries it? (O'Reilly's, Napa). Is there a size on it?
Parts I know I need.:
1. Small bumper guard for the right front bumper. Mine might be
fixable, but if there is one out there that can be chromed, it would
save me some time.
2. Windshield knobs - mine are spliting apart
3. Side mount locks (just thought I would echo what I hear everyone
else saying)
4. Brackets for the rear seat foot rest. I can send pictures if you
thing you have some.
Again, thanks everyone for the helpful info at the National Meet. I
think I could have this thing on the road by 2015!
