Likewise, I have never greased the pump bearings. I figure they eliminated

the grease fitting for the front bushing, so it is not necessary for the

rear one either. However, when I install new packings I do smear a liberal

amount of anti-sieze paste around the shaft, and use graphite impregnated

packing.. I know one owner who religiously screws the grease cap down every

time he goes out, and finishes up with a great glob of grease floating in

the neck of the radiator.
