Trunk Lid Hinges

The Trunk lid hinges that were on the Commodore when I bought it looked like NOS parts. Last night I temporary installed the trunk lid to make adjustments before painting. The trunk lid is off the parts car which is also a 1952, the lid has three holes on each side for bolts but the hinge itself has only two holes on each side.

I got the lid adjusted right and except for where the latches connect it fits fine. I saw a picture of a 1951 that has the three hole hinges and was wondering what year the hinges I have are? Since the lid fits fine and unless I run into a major problem I will not change the hinges. I am just curious about two different sets of hinges.

I don't know which ones you have, but the master parts book shows numerous hinges for the step downs. The Jet set has it easy..just one left and one right! Confused yet??? Grinnn..

The 1951 hinges are different from the 52 trunk hinges altogether. The 52-4 hinges used a long coil spring which went up the length of the package shelf .The 51 and back to 48 had a clock type spring similiar to the hood support spring. There were slight variations in the coupe vs. sedan hinge but the big difference in design came in the 52 model year.
