There is no way you can switch the leads on the back of the gauge - one
receives voltage from the ignition switch, and the other goes to the
connecting switch for the sump and tank. if the gauge reads backwards it is
just a case of getting the float to swing the other way by bending the arm
around 180 deg. Any 180 ohm rheostat whould work with a reasonable amount
of accuracy - after all, you don;t really need to know how many gallons
exactly you have in the tank, just so it registers empty tank just before
the tank actually runs dry. Mine read 7/8 at full, and starts t flicker
below 1/4 full, so I know it's time to head to the gas station. Good
