Reversed Wiring
I found out today that the wiring on my 1929 Essex is reversed with
the negative terminal going to the top of the starter switch and the
positive going to the chassis and the starter bolt. It started and
ran (not more than 1-minute) smoothly prior to this discovery.
Can anyone shed any light on this? Should I reverse it? How did it
even run the other way? At a minimum, I'd imagine that the starter
would run backwards and the car wouldn't start. Don't know how to
interpret what the generator would be doing.
