1929 Hudson Carb. ?

I am building a complete carb. Less the heat riser to replace mine when it desides to start falling apart. I have the bronze float bowl and other parts I got from Geoff and John Meadows. I am making my own float and was wondering how much fuel should be in the bowl rather then the float clearance from the top ? I am making it a little differant and thats why I ask this. The other question is there a distance that the venturi should be from the side and how is this adjusted ? Mine is about 1/4" and to adjust looks like you have to file metal from it. I am guessing since mine is 1/4" it worked on a car before. Thanks, Ron
