J B Weld and block repair

I have used J B Weld and found it an effecive repair. It keeps my

Hudson running well. J B Weld would be effective on an external

crack.

However as this is an internal repair and no for sure way of

monitering for a leak, welding should be done. Welding may cause

more problems as the block is old and deteriated. In other words a

small hole developes on the block while welding will turn into a big

one during the welding process. The heat will burn away bad parts and

you may have a larger area to repair. I had a professional welder

repair a cracked heat tube and he had a 2 in hole to fill because of

degradeation.

Also would not use antifreeze in this engine as it will ruin any

bearing surfaces it comes in contact with. Water only, and I would

do many heat cycles with side cover off before trusting this repair.

Also suggest using an internal block sealer that is avaible at auto

parts stores to repair from the inside of this area.
