26 Steering

bottom bushings made from aluminium bornze. these are like a top-hat,
upside down. Had a real job getting them out, and in again, but the
machinist made a perfect job of them. The top bushings were hardened
steel, and were in perfect condition. As far as clearances go , keep
everything to a bare minimum. I hope you are keeping them well greased
Paul!
I'll give them an extra shot before the next big adventure!
Geoff had his work cut out with the '26. The steering was terrible both stiff & loose, jumped all over the place with an occasional shimmy just for spice. When Geoff pulled it all to bits, the pins were the worst examples I have ever seen, the left one was even broken in two pieces!!!
Now that he has worked his magic, this is the nicest steering old car I have ever driven. There is very little play, next to no kickback and the car stays in its lane minding its manners like it ought to do. The '29 should do so well!
It is amazing how much of the world you can see at 35 mph without having to struggle for control!
