Two More Short Outings

Attachments :
Sunday was another day out with the '29. There is a Wings & Wheels event at our local airport on the 2nd Sunday of each month. This time I drove the '29. As always, the car was very popular with the public and it got more attention than the very nicely turned out Ranchero that was the only other car displayed.

One the way over, I played with the choke. It really runs sweet with the choke out just a tad, perhaps a 1/4" to 3/8". That is probably .8 of a cm for those of you still using the ancient Napoleonic measuring system.

With the choke pushed all the way home, the motor turned from sweet natured to vile, with flat spots a plenty. The issue with dripping gas out of the air cleaner has not gone away with the fresh tank of gas. A puddle forms if the tap under the vac tank is not turned off at any stop.

The second trip was to a private party for Friends of Jazz in the Fullerton hills. The old Hudson ran so sweetly that I almost wished I had kept driving rather than going to the party. The Martinis were good, the music excellent and there were plenty of folks to natter with, many gushing over that "big old car" parked at the head of the driveway.

I'm going to have to fix the carb problem and am very grateful for the help posted on this list. I'll get a copy of that Marvel book and reread the tips posted here and see if I can puzzle it out. I'm not really very comfortable with carbies having been told (& believing) that carburetor is a French word which means "leave it alone."

Still, I was able to work on the SUs on British sports cars OK and found the Stewart on the '26 pretty nice to work on so maybe the mysterious Marvel will come to heal also.

Some pics of the Fullerton Airport Wingding are posted below.
