A barn find? You be the judge...

A funny story...a friend found out about what he thought might be a

1929 Hudson 5 or 7 passenger phaeton. (This of course got me all

excited, almost to a ferver) No pictures just based on the word of

some guy who saw it. I pried the name and town out of him and did a

google search and found the guy listed in the Internet phone book. I

called the number, a woman answered and when I asked for the guy, she

said he had just passed away and then gave the phone to her son in

law. Come to find out, it was a 1917 Hudson (they called it a

1916/1917 Hudson for some reason). I experienced a little

disappointment for it NOT being a 29, but I pressed on. I tried to get

him to send me pictures, to no avail....

A month ago I was calling around to our chapter to see who was coming

to our event. I get one of our members on the phone and turns out he

was out of state. I said "huh, there is a car in that state I have

tried to get them to send me pictures." He said, what's the phone

number? I gave it to him and turns out, he was just down the street

from where the car is located!!!!! Wow, do you ever get the sense that

God drives a Hudson too? : ) He ran down and got some pics for me.

Here are the pics of the car. I am interested in everybody's opinion.

What is missing, what is not original? It supposedly has the original

interior and it is in good shape. Looks almost too good a shape. What

would you pay for a car in this condition? Just to prepare you, the

member who took pictures, did not get shots of the front or the left

side of the engine (no carb picture), and no underneath pictures.

One other interesting thing, is the bottom of the windshield is

straight but the original picturs shows a curve in the windshield

bracket.

For those of you with '17s I would appreciate you opinion on the gauges

and interior. It appears to be missing the Motometer as well.

It might take a little bit for the pics to come up, be patient, they

are on my little server.
