Checking in from Afghanistan
I thought I would just check in. I have been reading the summary
messages everyday, but our Army network won't let me pull up
Yahoogroups. I am on our Recreation computers now, but there is
usually a line.
I am stationed at FOB Lightning in Gardez Afghanistan as the J6 for
the Regional Command. The J6 for you non-Army types is the
data/communications guy. I am responsible for all the communications
in our provinces of Ghazni, Paktika, Paktia and Khowst. Other than
being extremely busy, I am extremely bored. All work and no play
makes Jack a dull boy.
Before I left I was able to send my speedometer, both my 1917 and
1929 carburators and my wood wheels off to be repaired. I have not
heard back from any of them other than the speedometer guy.
One thing I have been meaning to ask. The intake (left) side of my
1917 block is cracked. Right next to the carburator (to the right) it
is cracked around the freeze plugs. Do you think that is fixable? I
thought it could be welded. What is behind that, is it the intake
manifold space?
I would also be interested in the heads if they would fit my car. I
haven't pulled mine yet, but it doesn't hurt to have an extra.
