Oil & Initial Start-Up Questions

Getting close to be able to start my engine (finally) and I just want to make sure I am right about a few things.

1. The oil pump supplies only the timing chain and the distributor with oil. The crank and cam get just splash lubrication. Correct?

2. In the head there are little holes in a valley of the casting (beside each intake valve push-rod). Oil from the rocker pivots should slowly drain through those really tiny holes?

3. One copper line coming off the oil pump runs to the cab to indicate oil pressure, the other line is the suction line that sits inside the screen/filter. Right?

4. The glass tube on the side of the crank-case is the oil level indicator? How many litres/quarts does this engine take?

5. What oil weight should I use for 'break-in'? What about after that, summer weather?

6. What is the correct gap for the valves?

7. Lastly, my engine has new pistons, and it is 'snug', not too tight to run, I know it will be fine, but I am a bit worried about the little 'original' starter motor on 6 volts though. Can I start it with 12 volts for break-in?
