1925 Hudson Super six timing and water pump
When I got my 1925 Hudson the timing chain was off and the distributor housing was broken open. I have been trying to figure out what happened. I have a good Bosch distributor so I am ok there. Can't figure out what the control rod that is actuated from the steering colum is supposed to do. One is ignition timing and easy to follow. The other one controls an inner rod that ends up behind the oil pump. It operates a cam that disconnects the oil pump. Why would the hand throttle be linked to a pump disconnect?
All the bolts holding the water pump in place are off and I can wiggle the pump all ways but is there a trick to removing it from the car?
I have the shop manual but there are no pictures and some of the text is hard to follow.
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Dorien
