They are called "Assist cords".  You can buy
the braided rope material from  Spotlight stores,  in the drapes
section. They are used as pull cords to draw drape curtains together.  With
a  bit of ingenuity you can make up new cords out of them.

these "pull" things (see photo) are called,  and where in the world can
