How to protect the 29 Marvel
I'm just finishing the rebuild of my 29 Marvel. I'm amazed on the state of newness. Alot of white flacky stuff and some crud and the screen was clogged. Throat and flapper were black, the jets were virtually plugged with the white stuff and so on.
The above being said I found no bubbling, cracking or any deteration that I have read so much about. The choke butterfly and its shaft have parted in the past and were resoldered. A touch up there and it seems ok now.
Now that everything is clean, shinny and new looking how do I keep it that way - in other words how do we keep the carb from desolving.
I've though one way would be to turn off the fuel feed from the Vacuum tank and then allow the car to stall out of gas. A bit time consuming but functional. THe other would be to have a drain capability on the bowl to drain out the bowl after shutdown.
We're kind of at a point to figure another best way now that there's no more brass bowls being made.
