Re: How to protect the 29 Marvel - with New Pics

All,

Over the last several months I've been testing out a water clear sealant that has high promise to insulate and solidify the infamous Marvel carb. I'm working with a 10-725 for my 29 sedan. My carb is very mint with no oxidation issues yet. I've coated the bowl, jet portion and bowl lid of the carb inside and out and found the coating is thin yet extremely strong and has almost the same strength as the potmetal use to have when new.  I accidently got some into the bowl lid screw holes and had to retap the

to clear it out.The epoxy provided a very nicve resistance to the tap with just a small amount worked into the threads. I've posted a number of HI-def pics of the bowl and lid in the File directory under the Marvel with new sealer applied  folder.

I would say that this epoxy should seal leaks, prevent further deterioration, restore threads and so on.

The past months I've chemical tested 3 pieces of broken potmetal handle pieces coated with this epoxy one each in gasoline, acetone, and lacquer thinner. 2 months of constant soak and there's no sign of any deterioration of the epoxy. Very Impressive!

I can attest that the epoxy does seal completely, is crystal clear and has amazing strength. The epoxy is also gasoline immune as its main use is a tank sealer.

The epoxy is low cost at $39.99 for a quality to coat 2 5 gallon gas tanks. I used only 1" x 1" dia cap full to completely coat the bowl and lid inside and out. That's almost nothing used.

Please let me know your thoughts,

Jack
