Re: Some 25 questions

Hi folks

My son Paul and I trailered home a new possesion
last evening.  It is a 25 coach which was restored in the mid 70s.
Turns out that we knew this car well 30 years ago when a good friend had
it.  It has changed hands twice since then and is generally in nice
condition but there are a couple of issues.

1. Clutch is slipping although engagement is
smooth.  I found no pedal freeboard and assumed that would solve the
problem but no.  Tomorrow I will flush it out with kerosene, refill with
ATF and see if that helps,  Any other ideas if that does not?  There
are no bad noises so I assume the plates are not grinding against each
other.  The fellow we bought it from, who drove it perhaps 10 times in 10
years, said he changed the fluid but it did not help.

2. The steering box sector shaft has some slop in
it.  My 23 and 29 have worm to sector adjustment but I can see no provision
for this.  Is there something I am missing?  Do 24-26 steering boxes
have an eccentric sector shaft bushing like the earlier cars?  The owner's
manual only shows the worm shaft bearing end play adjustment.

I now understand what others have been saying about
the fan noise being very loud at higher rpms.  My 23 with a 6 bladed fan is
much quieter.

Thanks for any help and advice

Karl and Paul
