Re: Clutch swap

Hi Geoff

Thanks for the advice on the
carburetors.

I have another question.  I am considering
fitting a 29 clutch and flywheel assy to the 25 as I do not feel up to the
recorking job just now and want to take advantage of the remaining good
weather.  I believe that you did this for Paul ONiel and would appreciate
any tips you could give me.

Obviously a splined input shaft, proper throwout
etc are required but fortunately I have a good supply of these.  I will
probably use a complete 29 gearbox as I have one in very good
order.

The 29 flywheel I have has some rust pits on the
friction surface which I can machine off/.  This will probably require the
removal of about .020 of the working surface.  Should I also remove the
same amount from the pressure plate mounting flange of the flywheel in order to
retain the correct relationship between friction surfaces?

Will a turned surface be OK on the flywheel or
should I have it ground?  I can use carbide inserts and a very fine
feed.

Thanks

Karl
