Re: a cylinder head puzzle

This weekend we picked up a complete motor, trans,
etc for a 24-26 hudson.  I say 24-26 because we cannot quite figure out
what it is.

Head was made in 1921

Crankcase 1924

Transmission 1926

Pistons are domed and cast iron

The plugs are all in line and we thought Oh Joy, a
high compression head.  When we pulled it off, the cavities are MUCH deeper
than a head we have with 1 and 6 plugs offset.

What gives?  I thought that inline plugs was
indicative of high compression.

The carb has the float bowl in front rather than on
the side like our 25.

Fan drive is V belt.  Does anyone know when
these changes were made?

This car was found in the mountains of BC some 20
miles beyond existing roads and certainly much more beyond roads in those
days.  What bodywork was left has been extensively, and skillfully modified
and we speculate that it was fitted out to run on the rail line which was
nearby.  Otherwise how could it have possibly have got there?

Sorry for the many questions and long
post

I really have to wonder at the wisdom of spamming like
this. Who would buy anything from a spammer?
