Hudson radiatior emblem
I purchased a 1926 Hudson coach last June that had a decent amature restorion in 1980. This week I removed the radiator and shell to have some pinhole leaks repaired in the honeycomb radiator. Since the shell was out, I decided this is also a good time to replate it as it is getting raised pock marks on it. The problem that I have encountered is that the emblem is epoxied onto the shell even though the original spring retainer is in the round hole. Has anyone run into this problem? I have considered force but didn't want to distort the shell. I considered using some heat (propane or heat gun), but was concerned that the cloisonne emblem may be damaged. Last idea is to use MEK (methyethylketone) to see if it would breakdown the epoxy. I haven't tried any of these ideas because I want to see if anyone has experience in dealing with this problem and may have a better solution. Your ideas and comments will be appreciated.
