H-E-T Club Forum

I have hesitated to post a message here about the H-E-T Club Site forum because we didn't want to seem like we were trying to pull folks off this site. For those of you in the H-E-T Club, you may already know about the Club forum. For those of you not in the H-E-T Club, this may be new to you.

Our Club site at www.hetclub.org has a new forum. This forum is inside the Club site. Why? Well there are a couple of reasons. First, it is safe from spammers getting in, because we have double security for registering. I wind up deleting about 10-20 spam login attempts A DAY. Now we do have security on here but as we have noticed once someone posts using email and their email account gets hacked, it gets displayed. We don't have that problem on the Club site because you have to login in order to post. Second, we use real names. The Club site is connected to our membership database and so you have to be in the member database in order to login. For folks who want to participate but are not Club members, you can join as a Limited Online Account, and then create an account and get access to the forum. There are instructions on the site.

Why are we encouraging folks to move to the new site? Because there is a lot of great Hudson information and advise. While it is accessible now, we have no control of the content and have no idea how long Yahoo will continue to offer this. We also have no idea if we will be able to get access to the content in the future. There is a trend with sites like this taking down their free forums or charging or increasing the exposure to ads. On the Club site we have complete control over what happens with the content. So if you are interested, please consider starting to post on the Club site.
