Charging regulation.
I am in the process of rewiring my 1918 Hudson and am trying to understand the charging regulation. I am used to having a regulator to 'cut out' the voltage to the generator at low speed but the books read as though the unit will run itself off the battery and slip through the drive clutch at the front if its faster than the waterpump drive. Have I understood it right and has anyone any tips on how it can be improved upon, maybe fitting a cutout up under the dash. I am happy to keep it 6 volt. By the way I am installing four 6volt relays to be actuated by the four dash switches, then I don't need to worry about voltage loss/resistance etc, I should get good conections.
