Welding a rust through block.

Starting a new thread on a new topic.

The engine in my desert rust bucket is complete and 100% original. As I part out this beast I tried forcing water into the upper outlet and found a hole in between the pass side valve covers. Not a crack but what appears a rust through.

The head gasket also leaked water.

I don't know any history but the car appears to have seen very little mileage as cross members have virtually nothing collected, the head valve area is spotless, and the buildup on sump pan, tranny and diff is just the dirt it wassitting in. No gravel.

Ok now that being said I'm thinking on pulling the eng/tranny combo, popping the head and seeing where it stands.

If feasible is oxy welding the water jacket areas a solution to this kind of leak? That's my welding experience. If so I've seem the Muggy rods used on YouTube for welding cast iron. Has anyone been successful on this kind of repair?

Thanks

Jack
