Of Mice and Men (and the real purpose of a Hudson radiator cap)

So, how much pressure can a Hudson Super Six water pump load into the head and top radiator tank? Well, at least enough to blow out a head gasket. It turned out that a mouse moved into the top tank and built nest. The hose and hose clamps were tight the radiator cap was tight the pump was working flawlessly, something had to give. The water passage between the block and the head on the exhaust side of Cylinder 3, about 1/2 way in between the studs at the water passage. I honestly believe you could lengthen the lower intake hose and place it in a pond, then place a hose and spray nozzle on the cylinder head water outlet manifold and put out a good size fire. . .

I now know that radiator caps are for keeping thing out of a radiator rather than keeping things in.
