Automotive history on display in 2014

Kingman, Arizona will be the host city for the International Route 66 Festival in 2014. The events theme is Kingman - Crossroads of the Past & Future.

So, they are including a Saturday evening auto show in the historic district that will showcase more than a century of automotive history. What really makes the potential for this show really interesting is that they want to make alternative energy vehicles (past, present, and future) the centerpiece of the event.

In addition to the auto show, initial plans are for a film festival (movies starring Andy Devine or that were filmed on Route 66, or in Kingman), an exhibition of Route 66 and automotive authors and artists, and special events along the 180 mile Route 66 corridor between Seligman and Topock.

A festival in August in Arizona may seem crazy but Kingman at 3,300 feet usually hovers around the century mark. Evenings are just about perfect.
