Question on Accellerator Foot Rest
Peter and I were discussing the circular threaded steel button of sorts right of the accelerator pedal on 29 (& possibly others) LHR cars.
I was wondering if the steering wheel throttle was used as a speed control allowing the right foot to rest on the button.
I cant see any other use - but then I've been wrong before.
Jack

I'm wondering if the steering wheel Throttle Lever was used as a speed control of sorts allowing the foot to rest from holding down the accelerator.

Aha! Now that you mention it, my friend's '29 Pierce-Arrow (lhd) has something similar. There's no space for that in rhd cars.

Ok I just looked again. Its a foot rest. It just is a bolt - look close at the threads-connects to nothing but the floor

Thought you'd like them - very nice reference especially of the bottom. If you capture them large they blow up very well - great detail shots. I'd of paid for those!

I have the splash guard on the left side (oil filler) of the engine, but not the other one, so we're halfway there. I have to take it out one day, as the oil level sender is behind it - impossible to access with the guard in place, and the there's no wire connceting it to the gauge! Somebody will have the dimensions for the other side.
The pedal I'm wondering about isn't for the starter - it's the one immediately to the right of the gas pedal. They go clutch, brake, gas, ???. I wondered about a dimmer switch, but that's supposed to operate from the steering wheel.

Leather I would guess would be the upholstery for a rumble/coup or open car. Mohair would not stand up at all.
I believe the pedal you ask about is the starter switch/gear engage - the one forward of the gear shift. You step down on it and it engages a reduction gear between the starter and the flywheel plus engages a switch powering the starter motor
One thing I didn't know about is the right and left splash guards that mount to the upper part of the crankcase bottom. Seen o n the under carriage oil pan picture. On every photo of the 29 I've seen I've never seen those guards. I always wondered what the upper set of 5/16 bolts were for that ran along the bottom of the crankcase. Without that guard those bolts have no purpose.
Now where to find dimensions to make them from or do we wing it?

Thanks Jack - a really nice car! One point, though: the only other pics I have of coupe interiors show cloth upholstery. I's expect the rumble seat to be done in leather or something like it, so maybe when you took the rumble seat option you got a leather inerior as well. Any thoughts?
And a question. To the right of the accelerator pedal there's another pedal or button. We don't that on rhd cars. What's it for?
Pete

Found this on Ebay. There's 70 hi-def pics of a very very original car which we can use as a reference. This are the best pic I've seen since I've had the need for pics
