Update on E4 engine knock
Hi all, I finally decided to drop the pan and it was the #3 rod. Your right it is very easy to tell which one has a problem. I removed all the shims.....and....no go. It looks like I need to get it re-babbited. Since I am in southern calif I think I can take it to Egge and get the work done. My question is, can I take the piston out from the bottom without taking everything apart? If so do I just need a ring compressor to put it back in from the bottom? It looks like the crank is in good shape so I am hoping this is a fix? Or am I better off taking the engine out and doing everything? Any thoughts are appreciated.
