Recommended 29 Clutch Alignment Tool

Got a question, getting ready to pull the clutch and at least replace the leaky gasket. I dont have an old front shaft and was wondering what would substitute as an alignment tool. The typical the newer ones are a smooth plastic shaft correctly sized to slip all the way in to the pilot bearing. Has anyone found a replacement readily available or is it lathe time?
