Re: Hard To Change Gear When Stopped [1 Attachment]

Those nuts control the clearance between the
throwout bearing and the pressure plate.  They are best set with the
pressure plate off and a dial gauge in the release fingers to get them all
exactly the same.  Anyway glad you get the problem sorted, even if it is a
temproary fix.

When Stopped [1 Attachment]

Thanks Geoff.

The toggles (from Essex parts book) are the four toggle rocker arms that
allow the throw-out bearing to move in and out. Photo attached of one bolts
with wire instead of split pin.

Pressure on the throw-out bearing with these bolts loose must allow the
throw-out mechanism to bind and keep spinning hence my problem.

My tightening of these toggle nuts in situ is not ideal as the arms will
be biased to one side of the cut out. A job to attend to when I put the
original motor in one day after I get all the tolerance on the main bearings
correct and straighten the conrods which I am told is causing the piston noise
at certain revs. The motor in at the moment has the same piston noise.
