If you look at the seal lip you will see that in
one orientation it will keep grease/oil in. This orientation should be
facing inwards.

I'm getting close to reassembling the '29H rear
axle. The mangled CWP set is being replaced with 1928 parts, new carrier
and pinion bearings are going in and I have some new
seals.

The pics attached show the wheel bearing adjustment
nut seals - the type that was there when the nut came out and the new
seals. My question is: which way should the new seals be installed -
open side facing out, or the other way around?
