Welcome to the group Adam. do you have
a Owner's handbook for this car? This will tell you about basic
maintenance and adjustments. there ae full workshop manulas for the
1926 models, with a supplement for 1927, which would cover the more intricate
details. Goo luck wiht your car. This is quite a rare
model, being the standard sedan body on the long wheelbase.

I've been a member of the group a few weeks now
and wanted to formally introduce myself. My name is Adam, I live just
outside Atlanta, GA, and we purchased a 1928 Hudson Model O 5-passenger sedan
a few months ago. As for the reason for the purchase, let me try to
re-tell the abridged version...
I'm a car lover by birth and spend most
of my waking hours thinking, reading, or looking at cars of all sorts. I
own a '69 Ford hearse, a '87 Lotus Esprit, and now the '28 Hudson. As
you can tell, my car interests are very diverse. When my wife got
pregnant two years ago, she suggested we think of a name somehow car
related. "Jackie Stewart" was
vetoed, but eventually we agreed on the name Andrew, with the
middle name of Hudson. We both love Hudsons, and we joked that
this would be a good excuse to one day buy one. Well, "one day" came a
whole lot sooner than we ever planned, and for his first birthday, Andrew's
present was his very own Hudson. What 1 yr. old doesn't need their own
collector car, right? The way I look at it is this is a way to help
preserve our past, pass it on to the next generations, and share it with
everyone who see us drive by. And over the next few
decades, it will be a good opportunity for us to bond and learn about
cars. My father also plans on helping, so it will be a three generation
car for tinkering and enjoying. Also, we installed seat belts and
a car seat in the back, and it's our weekly routine now to
take our Sunday morning drives around the neighborhood. When the weather
cools down a bit, we'll venture out to some of the nearby
cruise-ins.
Now as for the car, it's a wonderful car to drive and learn
about. The car came from the estate of the late Harry Park from
Woodstock, NY, who maybe some of you know. One of the reasons we bought
it is because I know nothing about pre-war cars. In fact, up until
buying this car, I had never heard of a down draft carburetor. When it
arrived, I even had to have someone teach me how to start it. While I
have some basic but very amateur automotive skills, this car is a whole new
set of ideas and principals. The oldest car I owned prior to this was a
1966 Cadillac, and by that year, there was little driver mechanics involved in
operating it. All that said, I will have a lot of probably very simple
questions, but it seems like I have an outstanding resource with you
all. While I had the car gone through by a mechanic to get it road ready
for short little drives, one of the first projects on my agenda will be basic
maintenance items, like fluid changes and oiling/greasing various
points. More to follow on that.
Included here is a photo of
Andrew Hudson's Hudson from a few weeks ago while it was
warming up for our Sunday morning drive and a photo of my little
munchkin. His photo was taken before the drive and not after. You
can tell because he's not crying that we came home!
