Re: 1929 Hudson Coupe on Shorpy [1 Attachment]

I wasn't able to see the attachment and yahoo has locked me out of the website again so I'm not going to be able to see it that way.

From what very limited information I have, I had thought ALL Hudson cars were striped from the factory. Ford did this with his much less expensive Model A and striping was an industry standard. Having said that, we really have very little to go on now. There are precious few original cars left and photographic evidence in contradictory. I have seen factory photos that show stripes and we just found a couple of Shorpy shots showing cars with no stripes. No explanation has been offered for the lack.

Personally, I'd be surprised to find out that the stripes were optional. They really add to the looks of the car and the painting specs list the stripe colors. Hudson would have wished to make thier cars as attractive as possible. If I ever repaint my cars they will be striped.

I was wondering if they striped anywhere along the body. I've accumulated alot of 26-31 pics and only a couple have stripes along the R & L horiz side lines running along hood and doors. I'm hoping that this striping was a later owner's added flare and not standard. And was the window borders also standard or also a flare?
